XDR Series: 75W–960W Next-Generation Ultra-Slim DIN Rail Power Supply

XDR Series: 75W–960W Next-Generation Ultra-Slim DIN Rail Power Supply

Introduction

In April 2025, MEAN WELL introduced the XDR-E Series (75W–960W) — a high cost-performance DIN rail power supply designed to deliver excellent value and a wide range of models. Thanks to its strong price-performance ratio and comprehensive lineup, the series quickly gained market recognition and attracted a large volume of orders shortly after its launch.

The XDR-E series has already been widely adopted in applications such as:

  • Industrial automation
  • Power infrastructure
  • Renewable energy equipment
  • Network switches
  • Semiconductor manufacturing equipment

To further support applications that require higher performance and more demanding operating conditions, MEAN WELL has now introduced the premium flagship XDR Series (75W–960W).

With the introduction of the XDR and XDR-E families, MEAN WELL now provides two product tiers:

  • XDR Series – Premium flagship models for high-specification applications
  • XDR-E Series – Cost-effective models for value-focused projects

This dual offering allows system designers and engineers to select the most suitable power solution based on performance requirements, environmental conditions, and budget considerations.

Next-Generation Upgrade Over Previous SDR/NDR/EDR Series

The previous SDR / NDR / EDR DIN rail power supplies have been widely used for over a decade. The new XDR / XDR-E generation introduces major improvements, including:

  • More compact design
  • Expanded model selection
  • Improved electrical performance
  • More global safety certifications
  • Longer warranty period

In many cases, the XDR and XDR-E series can directly replace the older generation models, allowing customers to upgrade system performance while maintaining installation compatibility.

By offering both premium and cost-optimized solutions, MEAN WELL enables users to balance system performance, efficiency, and cost competitiveness.

Key Features of the XDR Series

Ultra-Wide Input Range

The XDR series supports an 85–305Vac input range, making it suitable for global power grids and ensuring stable operation even in environments with unstable AC input.

Ultra-Slim Design for Space-Critical Installations

The series features an ultra-narrow width ranging from 30 mm to 96 mm (depending on model), making it ideal for installations where DIN rail space is limited.

High Efficiency and Low Power Loss

  • Efficiency up to 96%
  • Ultra-low no-load power consumption: <0.7W–1.5W

Higher efficiency reduces heat generation and improves overall system reliability.

Excellent Power Handling Capability

The XDR series supports demanding load conditions with:

  • 200% peak power capability
  • Up to 600% transient peak current

This makes it suitable for applications with high inrush loads such as motors or industrial equipment.

Advanced Communication and Parallel Capability

Models from XDR-240 to XDR-960 include:

  • Built-in MODBus RTU communication
  • Parallel connection capability for power expansion

These features allow flexible integration into modern industrial control systems.

Reliable Operation in Harsh Environments

The XDR series is designed for challenging industrial environments with:

  • Operating temperature range: −40°C to +85°C
  • Altitude operation up to 5000 meters
  • Conformal coated PCB for moisture and environmental protection

These features ensure long-term reliability in harsh operating conditions.

Comprehensive Protection and Control Functions

Protection mechanisms include:

  • Short circuit protection
  • Overload protection
  • Over-voltage protection
  • Over-temperature protection

Additional control features include:

  • DC OK signal
  • Remote ON/OFF control
  • OR-ing FET (XDR-120 to XDR-960)

Flexible Output Options

Available output voltages include:

12V (960W model excluded)/ 24V/ 36V/ 48V

Output voltage adjustment ranges:

12V: 12–15V/ 24V: 24–29V/ 36V: 36–42V/ 48V: 48–55V

Global Certifications

The XDR series meets multiple international standards, including:

  • CB / TÜV / UL / RCM / BSMI / CCC / EAC / BIS / KC / CE / UKCA
  • 62368-1 / 61010-1 / 61558-1
  • C1D2 Hazardous Location
  • Marine DNV certification
  • SEMI F47 semiconductor standard

These certifications make the XDR series suitable for global industrial deployment.

Long-Term Reliability

  • 5-year warranty
  • Durable design for continuous industrial operation

Note 1: Due to the certification issuance schedule, first production will not be labeled with UL/ CCC/ BSMI/ DNV/ SEMI F47 logos. There will be a transition period during which different label versions may exist. If you require UL/ CCC/ BSMI/ DNV/ SEMI F47, please contact us for support.

Typical Applications

The XDR series is ideal for:

  • Industrial automation systems
  • Renewable energy equipment
  • Power infrastructure
  • Network communication devices
  • Semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Marine and hazardous environments
