LCM-40DA is the model of this series: rated power 42W, typical efficiency 91%.

LCM-40DA series is a 40W AC/DC constant current mode output LED driver featuring the multiple levels selectable by dip switch and the DALI interface with the compliance to IEC62386. LCM-40DA operates from 180～295VAC and offers different current levels ranging between 350mA and 1050mA. Thanks to the high efficiency up to 91%, with the fanless design, the entire series is able to operate for -30℃~+90℃ case temperature under free air convection. In addition, LCM-40DA is equipped with push dimming and synchronization functions, so as to provide the optimal design flexibility for LED lighting system.

Test conditions and notes10

1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
2. De-rating may be needed under low input voltages. Please refer to “STATIC CHARACTERISTIC” sections for details.
3. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.
4. Efficiency is measured at 500mA/80V output set by DIP switch.
5. Current ripple is measured 50%~100% of maximum voltage under rated power delivery.
6. Standby power consumption is measured at 180~230VAC.
7. The driver is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. 8. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).
9. Based on IEC 62386-101/102 DALI power on timing and interruption regulations, the set up time needs to test with a DALI controller which can support for DALI power on function, otherwise the set up time will be higher than 0.5 second for DA2-type.
10. To fulfill requirements of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED power supply can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.

Can I use the LCM-40DA for dimmable LED downlights?

Yes, it is a constant current LED driver with 42W output and a 2-57V output range at the default 700mA (2-40V to 2-100V depending on the DIP-switch current setting), which suits many LED downlight designs that require current-regulated output. It also includes DALI and push dimming, so it fits projects where dimming control is required rather than a fixed constant voltage supply.

Is the LCM-40DA suitable for LED signage modules?

It can be suitable for signage modules only if those modules are designed for constant current operation at the selected output current, with total load staying within 42W and within the DC voltage range for that current (e.g. 2-57V at 700mA, 2-40V at 1050mA, 2-100V at 350mA). It is not the right match for signage modules that expect a constant voltage power supply.

Can this driver run a small LED array for architectural or display lighting?

Yes, a small LED array can be a good fit when the array is built for constant current drive and the full load remains inside the DC voltage range of the selected current (2-57V at the default 700mA) and the 42W rating.
