HLG-185H series is a 185W AC/DC LED driver featuring the dual mode constant voltage and constant current output. HLG-185H operates from 90～305VAC and offers models with different rated voltage ranging between 12V and 54V. Thanks to the high efficiency up to 94%, with the fanless design, the entire series is able to operate for -40℃ ~ +90℃ case temperature under free air convection. The design of metal housing and IP67 ingress protection level allows this series to fit both indoor and outdoor applications.

Test conditions and notes14

1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.

Can I use the HLG-185H-12 to power 12V LED strip lighting for a large outdoor installation?

Yes. The HLG-185H-12 delivers 156W at 12V with up to 13A, providing substantial capacity for long runs of 12V LED strip. Is the HLG-185H-12 powerful enough for a 12V LED channel-letter sign?

How many meters of 12V LED strip can the HLG-185H-12 power?

Divide 156W by your strip's rated power per meter. For example, a strip drawing 14.4W/m could run up to about 10.8 meters (156W / 14.4W per meter). A lower-power strip at 7.2W/m could reach about 21.7 meters. Always check your strip's rated power per meter and keep total load at or below 156W.

Can the HLG-185H-12 be buried in a ground-level junction box or installed in a fountain?

The datasheet rates the HLG-185H series IP65/IP67 but does not specify a submersion depth or duration, so burial in wet junction boxes or fountain installations are not covered by the sheet. Waterproof M12/M15 connectors are available for the output cable in wet outdoor locations; follow MEAN WELL's IP installation cautions in the user manual.

What are the differences between the HLG-185H-12, 12A, 12AB, and 12B models?

All four share the same 156W / 12V / 13A core specs. The base HLG-185H-12 has no output adjustment. The -12A adds output voltage/current adjustment via built-in potentiometer (10.8-13.5V, 6.5-13A). The -12AB adds both adjustment and 1-10V/PWM/resistance dimming input. The -12B adds dimming input only, without the potentiometers.
