Test conditions and notes12
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
- 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- 4. Derating may be needed under low input voltage. Please check the static characteristics for more details.
- 5. The power supply is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. - 6. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the power supply may lead to increase of the set up time.

What LED applications use a 5V DC supply?
The LPV-100-5 outputs 5V DC at up to 12A (60W), which is the standard supply voltage for addressable/digital LED strips such as WS2812B and SK6812 types commonly used in decorative displays, indoor signage, and pixel-mapped installations. Ensure your total strip load does not exceed 60W.
How many meters of 5V addressable LED strip can the LPV-100-5 support?
The LPV-100-5 provides 60W at 5V. Divide 60W by your strip's wattage per meter — a 5V strip at 9W/m (e.g., 30 LEDs/m at full white) allows roughly 6.6 meters, while a strip at 6W/m supports about 10 meters. Always verify the rated power per meter for your specific strip at full brightness.
Is the LPV-100-5 suitable for outdoor pixel displays or exterior decorative installations?
Yes, with care. The unit is fully encapsulated to IP67 and Mean Well rates it for indoor use or outdoor use without direct sunlight exposure, so it can be installed in covered outdoor sign boxes or weatherproof enclosures supporting exterior 5V LED pixel displays. The working temperature is -25°C to +70°C, but the 5V model must be derated at higher ambient temperatures (see the derating curve).
Why does the LPV-100-5 show only 60W when the series family is nominally 100W?
The LPV-100 is a 100W-class series, but the rated power differs by model. At 5V the rated output is 60W (5V × 12A), because the rated output current of this model is 12A. The higher-voltage models of the LPV-100 series are rated from 100.5W to 102W.
Does the LPV-100-5 accept 120V and 240V mains without modification?
Yes. The universal input range of 90–264 VAC means the LPV-100-5 operates on both 120V North American and 230–240V international mains with no jumpers or switches to change.
