Divide 480W by your strip's wattage per meter. A 36V strip rated at 12W/m could run up to 40 meters (480W / 12W per meter = 40m). A strip at 20W/m would allow 24 meters. Always check your strip's rated power per meter and keep total draw at or below 480W.
Is the HLG-480H-36A appropriate for a fully exposed outdoor rooftop installation?
Not recommended without additional protection. The HLG-480H-36A is rated IP65, which guards against dust and low-pressure water spray but is not designed for direct rain exposure, submersion, or standing water. For exposed rooftop installations, mount it inside a weatherproof enclosure or choose the IP67-rated HLG-480H-36 instead.
