Test conditions and notes7
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
- 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- 4. The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 360mm*360mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to "EMI testing of component power supplies." (as available on http://www.meanwell.com)
- 5. Mounting holes M1 and M2 should be grounded for EMI purposes.
- 6. Heat Sink HS1,HS2 can not be shorted.

Can I use the MPD-65A for a 5V PLC rack or industrial controller with more load than a 45W unit?
Only if the load is split across both outputs. The 61.1W rating is shared between the 5V/5.5A CH1 and the 12V/2.8A CH2, so the 5V rail alone is rated at 27.5W. It suits PLC logic and controller boards whose 5V demand stays within 5.5A.
Is the MPD-65A a good fit for 5V embedded computing inside factory or lab equipment?
It can support 5V embedded computing loads that need up to 5.5A and are designed for constant voltage input. The 90-264VAC input range also makes it usable across a wide span of AC supply conditions.
Can the MPD-65A power multiple 5V automation devices from one supply?
Yes, grouped 5V loads are fine as long as their combined demand stays within the 5V channel's 5.5A rating and the total of both outputs stays within 61.1W. The 12V CH2 output (2.8A) can power additional 12V devices.
Will the MPD-65A work in cold or warm control cabinets?
The rated operating temperature is -10°C to +55°C, with output derating per the derating curve. No IP rating is listed in the specs, so the environmental guidance here is limited to temperature and 20-90% RH non-condensing humidity rather than enclosure protection.
