Test conditions and notes9
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1μF & 47μF parallel capacitor.
- 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- 4. The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 360mm*360mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to "EMI testing of component power supplies." (as available on https://www.meanwell.com//Upload/PDF/EMI_statement_en.pdf )
- 5. Derating may be needed under low input voltages. Please check the derating curve for more details.
- 6. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the power supply may lead to increase of the set up time.
- 7. No load power consumption<0.8W when RC+ & RC- (CN100 pin3,4) 0 ~ 0.8V or short.
- 8. When the input voltage is less than 40VAC, the SPS may exhibit degradation of performance. The final product manufacturers must re-confirm this deviation that does not affect basic safety or essential performance.
- 9. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).

FAQ
Can I use the MSP-600-5 for a 5V industrial controller or logic-heavy embedded system?
It is designed for constant-voltage 5V output and can deliver up to 120A with 600W total power. That makes it suitable for high-current 5V industrial controllers, embedded systems, or logic-focused equipment that need a strong 5V rail.
Is the MSP-600-5 appropriate for powering multiple 5V devices from one supply in an automation cabinet?
It can support larger grouped 5V loads because it provides 600W and up to 120A at constant voltage. It is best suited to centralized 5V DC applications where the combined demand stays within those published limits.
Can the MSP-600-5 support a 5V test fixture, burn-in rack, or production bench load?
Yes, this model is a fit for 5V bench, fixture, or production environments that need substantial current capacity. Its 85-264VAC input range also supports use in facilities with different AC input conditions.
When would the MSP-600-5 make more sense than a lower-power 5V model?
Within the MSP-600 series on this sheet, the MSP-600-5 is the 5V model at 600W and 120A; ratings for lower-power 5V MSP models are not given here. It makes sense when a 5V load needs up to 120A of current headroom.
How does the MSP-600-5 compare with the other MSP-600 versions?
In the MSP-600 range, MSP-600-3.3 is 396W and 120A, MSP-600-5 is 600W and 120A, MSP-600-7.5 is 600W and 80A, MSP-600-12 is 636W and 53A, MSP-600-15 is 645W and 43A, MSP-600-24 is 648W and 27A, MSP-600-36 is 630W and 17.5A, and MSP-600-48 is 624W and 13A. The family keeps a similar form factor while changing output voltage, wattage, and current.
Is the MSP-600-5 suitable for outdoor or high-temperature environments?
Its operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C, but output must be derated at higher ambient temperatures (see the derating curve). The provided specs do not include an IP rating, so outdoor exposure or wet-location suitability cannot be confirmed from this product data alone.
